Good afternoon from the Brewster Inn!!
So whats been happening since Spring?
Lots and lots, thats what. . 3 more guest rooms have been renovated making 7 that we've now done. These are the Hideaway (pictured at right), The Fern (our handicapped accessible guestroom) and the big wood paneled Game room on the 2nd floor. New photography of all 3 rooms will appear in the near future on our website and i'll be sure to link to it here too.
Next on our agenda and a major investment for us, is the replacement of the heating system going from what we have currently with original steam heating to "hot water" with every guestroom being zoned with its own thermostat and the addition of 2 large propane cast iron stoves in both the Honeymoon Suite and the Game room. This is something that we've wanted to do for a while and all the work will be complete before the end of the year all being well.
Updates on our gardens!
The gardens have certainly come on so much this year what with the addition of lots of new plants as well as an arborist coming to take down 2 very large trees seen at the back of this photo that were both in poor shape.
Our fan page on Facebook shows lots of photos and video of the 9hrs it took to get the trees down and the clean up afterwards. It has certainly changed the outlook of the garden now and with the additions we want to make next year, will be a lot better now. Click "become a fan" and join the other 269 fans for our regular updates as and when they happen.
"Big J" one of the 2 arborists. He was called Big J because of the length of his chainsaw not his height as he was a little short LOL. In total there was about 14cord of firewood from the 2 trees. All the branches were chopped up in their chipper and used in landscaping around trees down by one of the driveway entrances.
Next we want to start planting the lilac hedges back around the outer treeline just like they used to be here. A lot of people from Dexter who now live away but come and stay here comment how they could always smell the lilacs round town. We want to bring that experience back for everyone during next year.
Lastly for today, we have Specials running throughout the winter and spring inc a particular snowmobile special. Business has been great again this year and the winter bookings get better each year, so if your looking to come and stay over the next few months, be sure to check out the Specials page on the Brewster Inn website. Also please check out our blog and our Facebook Fan page for more updates as and when they happen.
Until next time!!
